Kansai International Airport (KIX) provides the easiest access for delegates to reach the venue. It is 75 minutes by Airport Express or 95 minutes by Limousine Bus to Kyoto station.

  2. JR (Japan Railway) Airport Express Train "Haruka" directly connects you to JR Kyoto station. The train is available almost every 30 minutes from 6:34am to 10:16pm. Fare: 3,490 yen for reserved seats, 2,980 yen for non-reserved seats. If you have Japan Rail Pass* you can take all JR Group Railways including "Haruka"

Flights from airports in the Tokyo area, including Narita and Haneda, arrive at ITM about once an hour. From ITM, take a limousine bus or shuttle taxi, which takes 55 minutes to Kyoto Station.

Participants have the following options for their transfers from/to the Narita (New Tokyo) International Airport (NRT).

  1. Choice 1: By Trains (from NRT to Kyoto station via Tokyo station, total travel time is 3 hours 30 minutes to 4 hours)
  2. Take the Narita Express (JR Line) to Tokyo station (60 minutes) and transfer to the Tokaido Shinkansen (bullet train, JR Line) to Kyoto station (2hours and 20 minutes). The total train fare from Narita to JR Kyoto station: 16,230 yen.

    2. There are two types of express trains from Tokyo station to Kyoto Station:
    3. NOZOMI superexpress (140 minutes to Kyoto, every 10 minutes)
    4. HIKARI superexpress (170 minutes to Kyoto, every 30 minutes)
    5. Please note that Japan Rail Pass is NOT valid for NOZOMI Super Express. If you want to use Japan Rail Pass, you can only take HIKARI Super Express.

  4. There is a limited number of domestic flights between Osaka Itami Airport and Narita Airport (Flight time: 80 minutes, 22,500 yen). From Osaka Itami Airport take an airport limousine bus to JR Kyoto station (55 minutes, 1,280 yen).

bulletB Haneda Tokyo International Airport (HND)

Tokyo's Haneda International Airport serves destinations in North America, Europe and Asia. You have following two options to come to Kyoto from HND.
  1. Choice 1: By Trains
  2. Take the Keikyu Airport Express train to Shinagawa station and transfer to the Tokaido Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto station. Traveling time is a little more than 2 hours.

  4. Alternatively transit flights from Haneda to Osaka Itami Airport (ITM) are frequent.

bulletB Central Japan International Airport (Centrair) (NGO)

Centrair is a new international airport. You may find direct international flights to NGO from EU, USA and other Asian countries. From NGO, go to Nagoya station and transfer to Shinkansen to Kyoto station.
  1. By Train (from NGO to Kyoto station via Nagoya station, total travel time is 2 hours)
    Take the airport limited express "m-SKY" or limited express, or express to Meitetsu-Nagoya station (30 minutes). Then, take Shinkansen from JR Nagoya to Kyoto Station (1.5 hours, approx. 6,500 yen)

Take Subway "Karasuma Line" from Kyoto Station to Kyoto International Conference Center (ICC Kyoto). Get off at the 10th stop, KOKUSAIKAIKAN (K01).

      Kyoto City Transportation Bureau offers a one-day pass: 500 yen for buses, 600 yen

Japan Rail Pass


Japan Rail Pass (JRP) is offered for foreign citizens visiting Japan. A Holder of a JRP can take all local, express and limited express trains freely except "NOZOMI" Superexpress of Tokaido Shinkansen. Tickets cost 37,800 JPY for 1st class and 28,300 JPY for 2nd class (7-day duration). If you have a plan to visit Tokyo, Kyushu or any other places while you are staying in Japan, JRP will be convenient and economic. It is also useful if you are arriving at Narita International Airport.
To purchase JRP, please reserve the ticket through a travel agency in your country before your departure. You will receive an " Exchange Order" and change it to the JRP upon at JR Travel Service Center arriving in Japan.
