Message from the Executive Chair
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to IEEE ICC 2011, the IEEE International Conference on Communications 2011, in Kyoto, Japan.
It has been 24 years since the IEEE GLOBECOM was held in Tokyo in 1987, the first time one of IEEE Communications Society's flagship
conferences was held in Asia. Since then, the situations of the telecommunication industry and academia have changed dramatically,
and this change has created a number of critical challenges for our community. ICC and GLOBECOM have become a center of new
innovations, and, remarkably, advances in the Asia region have been recognized as indispensable contributions toward addressing
those challenges in wired and wireless communications and the networking field.
The overall program consists of three distinguished keynote speeches, ten plenary talks by executive leaders from industry and
academia, and twelve business forum panels, in addition to the eleven technical symposia, nine workshops, and sixteen tutorials.
You will find the program very informative, practical, and enjoyable. Providing one free tutorial will create a platform for
attendees to access advanced knowledge in a systematic manner easily.
This conference is co-sponsored by the IEEE Communication Society, the IEICE Communications Society and the Science Council
of Japan. It is a great pleasure for the entire ICC2011 Committee to organize this premier event where leading researchers
and engineers from around the globe will meet and share ideas, perspectives, and visions to deal with the essential challenges
faced by society.
Sincerely,
Koichi Asatani, Executive Chair
